Daily Schedule Guidelines
Your kids are at home, now what? Probably the most important thing you can do is to maintain a consistent routine for your children while they are at home.
- Getting up and dressed for “school” in the morning will help them feel like it’s a normal day.
- Aim to establish a routine starting Monday (3/23). It might take a fews days to get used to it, but stick with it!
- It’s more important to be CONSISTENT and do a short amount of academic practice every day than it is to try to engage in long, challenging tasks every few days. Consistent practice every day, particularly in reading and writing, will pay off greater dividends over time.
- Working in short bursts with frequent breaks may help children as well (set a timer so they know when they get a break). Below is a suggested schedule, feel free to adjust according to what works for your family.
- Save entertainment screen time until after learning time and chores.
- Most of what you need you can access through clever.com
- i-Ready rule of thumb: K-3 students 30 min./day; 4-8th students 45 min./day.
- Help your children focus on the positives of more time together as a family. Perhaps it’s time to tackle a project as a family that you’ve been putting off, play board games, assign daily chores so everyone helps out, read a book together, do a big puzzle, etc.
